Renewable Energy Credit Markets Webinar

In conjunction with NYSERDA, the Business Council is holding a webinar to discuss how Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) will function and the ways in which your business can utilize them. The information and registration link is below:

Topic: RECs 101 – Renewable Energy Credits, or RECs, are an important mechanism for financing renewable generation and transmission projects, are being used by non-energy companies to meet voluntary environmental commitments. RECs also play a role as a compliance tool as state and local governments adopt decarbonization mandates.

The Business Council of New York State, Inc., and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority are teaming up for an educational webinar to provide business leaders with the basic information they need to know on how RECs work and how participation in the RECs markets may benefit their business. This webinar will focus on the statutory and regulatory basis for creating, trading, and using RECs, as well as considerations for new participants in the RECs market.

Major blue states hemorrhaging tax base as red states reap rewards
Illinois, New York and California have been hemorrhaging high-earning residents who have packed their bags for states such as Texas, Florida, Arizona and North Carolina in recent years, according to newly released IRS data. Major blue states have been losing a large amount of adjusted gross income (AGI) as it moved across state lines, according to IRS statistics from 2021 noted by the Wall Street Journal.

NYRA secures New York State approval to construct a new Belmont Park
ELMONT, N.Y. – Yesterday, FY 2024 budget bills agreed upon by Governor Kathy Hochul, the State Senate and Assembly, were finalized and released to the public. The Revenue Article VII Bill ( S4009-C/A.3009-C) includes language authorizing the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) to utilize a $455 million loan to build new thoroughbred racing facilities at Belmont Park.
