Putnam Restaurants: Hungry for Business
Restaurants have lost more revenue and jobs than any other industry due to COVID-19. According to a recent survey by the New York State Restaurant Association (NYSRA), 90% of New York’s restaurant owners say that it will be very or somewhat unlikely that their establishment will be profitable in the next six months.
With Congress set to vote this month on their final coronavirus response bill for 2020, the National Restaurant Association released a Revival Blueprint for the Restaurant Industry. The guidelines represent a strong, far-reaching plan for how Congress can advance restaurants in every city and town in this country. You may read the complete Blueprint here. Please show your support for the Blueprint for Restaurant Revival by contacting your elected officials via this link.
On Monday, Sept 14th, The Putnam County Business Council will host a “Business Talkback” Webinar featuring Melissa Fleischut, president and CEO of the New York State Restaurant Association. Melissa will be joined by local restaurant and hospitality business owners to discuss the state of the industry and how businesses can work through challenging restaurant restrictions due to COVID. Restaurateurs are encouraged to join this important presentation. You may register for the event by clicking the button below.
This series is the first of many that will be hyper-focused on specific industries or business clusters to give that specific sector the support, communication, and voice needed to thrive in a post-COVID economic climate. As part of our industry approach, the series will be supported by committees comprised of respective industry business owners who will work together on legislative issues affecting their businesses, bulk purchasing, innovation, and cross-industry collaboration, education, and business networking.
We are currently forming programs around the following key sectors: Minority and Women-Owned Businesses, Construction, Real Estate, Health and Wellness, Retail, and Not-for-Profits. Additional sectors will be developed in 2021.
The Business Council is looking for leaders to join our efforts in supporting all businesses in Putnam County. Your voice is needed, your expertise is wanted and your input is necessary to ensure a thriving local economy in Putnam County.
